Equality, Diversity, Inclusion
As an organization that promotes cultural relations, with a long trajectory around the world, we are committed to generating meaningful, lasting and respectful relationships that bet on equality, diversity and inclusion as fundamental pillars, inside and outside the British Council.
With this in mind, our principal objective is to ensure that these three values are present in each of our actions, integrating them in the execution of internal and external processes and making them part of the organization's political and social decisions from six areas of diversity, aligned with those protected by British equality legislation:
- Age
- Disability
- Ethnicity or race
- Gender
- Religion or belief
- Sexual identity
Implementation in our work environment
Just as we try to ensure that our projects are based on equality, diversity and inclusion, we want our workplaces to always be inclusive and safe places for everyone, creating opportunities and reducing barriers for underrepresented groups in society.
We are committed to ensuring that there is no unjustified discrimination in our recruitment and selection, performance management and remuneration processes. We are also committed to having promotions granted fairly in all our operations. We aim to develop inclusive programs and projects that bring together people with different experiences and backgrounds. We hope this will enrich everyone's experiences and ultimately lead to more inclusive societies.
Below you can find initiatives that help us to integrate equality, diversity and inclusion into our programs, projects, events and services, and to account for and track our progress.
