Fuel your passion for volunteering and leadership by becoming an Alumni UK Ambassador! This exclusive 12-month voluntary position is designed for 11 outstanding international Alumni UK members, offering a unique chance to contribute to development and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) globally.

In the Americas, we have the following two roles open for applications.

1. Alumni UK Regional Ambassador; or

2. Alumni UK SDG (Sustainable Development Goals) Ambassador

The role of the Ambassador of Alumni UK in the Americas:

1. Help promote British Council Alumni UK initiatives: You will collaborate closely with the British Council local team to help promote Alumni UK events and initiatives in your region. You'll have the opportunity to build strong relationships with UK alumni associations, giving you access to extensive alumni networks.

2. Create captivating events: You will plan and host at least two locally relevant alumni events per year. You can either organise these events yourself or team up with fellow alumni. The British Council will provide guidance and event support as needed.

3. Grow the regional Alumni UK community: You will play a pivotal role in increasing the number of Alumni UK network members from your region, bringing innovative ideas to grow the alumni community. The British Council will support the implementation of your ideas, upon agreement.

4. Craft compelling content: Within the 12-month period, you should aim to develop at least six content pieces for the Alumni UK online platform. You should have an active social media presence and share alumni-related posts on your channels to help raise awareness of the Alumni UK programme. 

Alumni UK Ambassador for SDGs:

We are looking for Ambassador representatives for each of the following Sustainable Development Goals (SDG’s)

1. Increase Alumni UK Engagement with SDGs: You will manage a dedicated group for your chosen SDG on the Alumni UK platform.  Using innovative ideas to encourage engagement and foster a sense of community amongst the group. You will share your knowledge on your chosen SDG through the group, whilst also engaging the wider Alumni UK network community. 

2. Craft compelling content: Within the 12-month period, you should aim to develop at least six content pieces about your chosen SDG for the Alumni UK online platform.  You should have an active social media presence and share alumni-related posts on your channels to help raise awareness of the Alumni UK programme and its role in addressing global challenges. 

3. Create captivating events: You will plan and host at least two alumni events relevant to your chosen SDG per year. You can either organise these events yourself or team up with fellow alumni. The British Council will provide guidance and event support as needed.

Eligibility and selection criteria:

  • Reside in or come from the region you aim to represent (Regional Ambassador).
  • Demonstrate passion and experience in your chosen SDG (SDG Ambassador).
  • Showcase leadership, communication skills, and cross-cultural understanding.
  • Commit sufficient time to the role.

  • Application evaluation by a panel, including British Council staff.
  • Online interviews with the regional and/or central Alumni UK team.
