Title: How to create an autistic-friendly EFL classroom 

Panelist: Sandra Ojeda 

The importance of autism and education is increasingly recognized, encouraging educators to adapt teaching methods to create inclusive EFL environments for autistic students. In this session, Argentine educator Sandra Ojeda presents strategies to support autistic learners by fostering social interactions and adapting to diverse learning styles

Sandra’s approach emphasizes building a safe environment focused on students’ unique sensory needs, including those who may be hypersensitive. Through practical techniques, she guides educators in creating a respectful educational community that promotes social skills development while providing structure and flexibility.  

This session also offers educators tools for addressing autism signs and sensory challenges to foster empathy and inclusion. 

Sandra Guadalupe Ojeda, who holds an M.A. in TEFL, specializes in inclusive education and educational technology (ICT). She currently teaches at Universidad Autónoma de Entre Ríos and I.S.P.I 4020 “San Roque” in Santa Fe, Argentina, and is an active member of the English Language Teaching community.
