The 2025 call for applications for the Circular Culture programme is once again open to support cultural festivals that champion sustainability. Led by the British Council in Latin America and the Caribbean, this programme offers both financial and training resources to promote artistic exchange between LATAC and the UK, in the countries of Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Jamaica, Mexico, Peru, and Venezuela.

What does Circular Culture offer?

  • Regional monetary fund of 350,000 GBP: A fund for in-person, digital, or hybrid festivals that foster artistic collaboration with the UK and promote sustainability.
  • Mentorship with UK professionals: Learn from international experts to incorporate sustainable development practices into your festival management.

Eligibility requirements

  • You must be an active cultural festival in the eligible countries of Latin America or the Caribbean.
  • You must establish a connection with a UK artist or cultural institution and include their participation in your festival’s activities (such as performances, talks, or workshops, depending on the type of event), attaching evidence of intent to collaborate from the artist or institution.
  • You must demonstrate willingness and commitment to sustainability. We are looking for festivals that are implementing or seeking to implement eco-friendly and creative practices in their proposals.
  • Projects must cover at least one of the following artistic disciplines: visual arts, digital arts, film, dance, architecture, design, fashion, literature, music, or theatre.

Please note!

  • It is your responsibility to contact and reach an agreement with the UK artist or institution. The British Council will not make specific connections with British artists but will offer practical advice to help you find the right fit.
  • Explore artists and organisations from Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland. The opportunities are as diverse as the regions of the UK!
  • Financial support will be allocated based on the scale of your festival (number of attendees), and it is important that you can demonstrate this, whether the event is hybrid, digital, or in-person.

Useful information for your application

  • Key tips: Get practical advice and resources to help develop your proposal.
  • Directory of UK artists and organisations: The British Council provides a central directory, but you are free to approach other artists or organisations you are interested in.
  • Inspiring stories: Explore testimonials and videos from festivals that have previously benefited from the programme.
