A teacher associated with the Language Studies program at UEL, where she teaches and supervises research on English language teaching and teacher training, Telma Gimenez has been at three different times in her training in the United Kingdom and believes that the experiences have not only provided a better perspective in her area of expertise, but also on British culture and lifestyle. Telma was at the College of Librarianship during her undergraduate degree (1984-1985); at Lancaster University at the time of her doctorate (1990-1994); and at the Institute of Education (UCL) during her postdoctoral degree (2014). About these experiences, she states: “The time I spent in London helped me update my knowledge and strengthen studies in the area of globalization and language teaching”.
In addition, she has been in contact with the British Council since 1980, when she received a scholarship for graduation. Since then, there have been several partnerships, the most recent being in the Brazil-UK Collaboration, where she developed a project on English language teaching that resulted in several publications and aroused reflections on language policies for the internationalisation of higher education in Brazil.
